So the weekend before last there was my birthday – which ROCKED ROCKED ROCKED – Evan planned the whole day, and I didn’t have to do anything but show up and enjoy. Evan planned a day out at the Shedd Aquarium, which I haven’t been to in ages. Many of our friends and my parents showed up to hang out and we saw the dolphin show and the otters. There was a special display of lizards (which I love) and I wish we were allowed to play with some (but I understand why we weren’t). The trip has inspired me [...]

We went on our annual pilgrimage to ‘not minicon’. Almost every year we go to Evan’s Mom’s for easter, she lives in Minneapolis, but because we see her so rarely, we don’t make any attempt to go to Minicon or see our other local friends. This weekend like most was full of too much food, and the right amount of family. We drove up Thursday night with my parents. Friday the ladies all went yarn shop hopping and the guys went to Arms & Armor. Then we brined two turkey breasts and Evan and I introduced the family to Neverwhere. [...]
Now that I am less than completely sick or completely buried under life . . . Last Saturday – The most Fabulous house concert . Riverfolk was here, as was apparently almost everyone else on the planet. Definitely an SRO night, and I think the song circle went till 3:30 am or so. and were excellent, and put on a wonderful show. I was worried about how much food there was, but there seemed to be enough and the few recipes that I found at the last minute went over well. I made stuffed mushrooms, and mini-artichoke quiches along with [...]
So this has been my performing arts week. Saturday the Opera, yesterday Chicago Shakespeare Theater[CST]. Both really wonderful, but such different experiences. My parents generally end up giving Evan and I tickets for one or two shows a year at the Opera (from their season subscription), depending on their schedule and generosity. Evan and I buy a season subscription for the CST. I am always just blown away by the intimacy and immediacy of the experience at the CST. The theater is designed so that there are very few seats that are less that excellent, and everywhere we’ve sat, from [...]
I went to the dentist this morning for the first time in at least 10 years probably more like 12 or 13. I walked away with a cleaning – not even a deep cleaning … just a cleaning, no cavities to fill WHEEE! I will have to get my wisdom teeth removed, but that doesn’t have anything to do with my dental care, but just the crap fact that my lower wisdom teeth are soft tissue impacted. Feeling very very very lucky and grateful to my parents who gave me good lacquer on my teeth and good brushing habits.
