The last few months have been a bear, lots and lots of time at work, and the beginning of me needing to stretch my wings in a fairly extreme way.  And there is a lot more coming down the pike.  (and a big thank you owed to ErikO for helping me out)

I dislike falling off the planet which I have done quite a big of. I am planning on re-instituting regular events at the house.  Probably mostly craft days to start  . . . I’ll post here as soon as I have confirmed dates – probably look to have them start in February.

Hope everyone had a good new years, ours was pretty quiet – about all I could handle. Evan and I have spent the last few days vegging quietly at home which has been really nice.

Some summer highlights:

Tomatoes from the garden are 200% better than tomatoes from the store. I might never eat them from the store again.

Almost everyday, in my head, I thank all my friends who helped me build my garden. So now I’ll do it outside my head: Thank you!!! So very much!!!

Took a photography class with Franklin Habit at Loopy Yarns, AWESOME!

Had a house concert for Sooj which many of you came to.

On new (added) meds for my ADD which has resulted in major sleep disturbance. Its hard to concentrate with so little sleep, so its hard to evaluate the meds.

Have dyed my hair funny colors and gotten my ears re-pierced. I think I am worrying about getting old.

Fallen in love with a new (for me) tv show, Friday Night Lights. I haven’t liked a show this much since Buffy. Insert days of squeeing here. GGood stories, stong women, great characters, and lots of pretty – boys and girls and scenery, yum yum yum . . . Okay I’ll stop now before I get too out of control.

Got Seanan McGuire’s new book. Just started reading it – enjoying it muchly.

Knitting is happening, lots of socks. Maybe pictures and possibly even a proto-pattern soon.

Want to make some earings – might need help with this.

My birthday is coming soon, I think I am closer to 40 than I’d like to be.

Scheduling craft and music days again, but not till 2010.

And I think that is probably enough for one post. Have to leave something for the next one!

Concert was awesome!! I am not a good media reviewer, I tend to want to just jump up and down and squee.  And this concert was definitely squee-worthy. Soon (and assuming permissions) we’ll be able to make some of the video we took available, probably on you tube. I just have to figure out this new fangled video thingie – good thing I work where i do .

Sooj and K were lovely houseguests. Yesterday was very restful for Evan and I as we laid around and recovered from the weekend.

Post-concert the house is cleaner than it has been for a LONG LONG time. Which we will desperately try to goad ourselves into maintaining. We have reconfigured the house somewhat, what was the “office” aka  “huge pile of crap”, is now an nice open space with a couch and lots of windows.  What other furniture that is in that room (a china cabinet and some desk bits) will mostly move out over the next few months. With one less couch in the living room, and more spread out seating, the whole front of the  house feels much more roomy. It made fitting in the 35 people or so we had for the concert fairly easy, and I think it will allow us to host a few kinds of events that in the past were kind of a problem – like game days.

What to bring: Yourself, your brain and mouth (we like to talk), your craft project, your sense of humor . . . All people and craft projects are welcome (invite a friend!) – scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, beading, origami, programming, cross-stitching, spinning, furniture re-finishing etc. We’ve seen it all! If your project requires a table, let me know, and I’ll have one setup for you.
What to bring take 2: A food item to share, craft day is also a bit of a potluck
What I provide: A Pet free, but not dust free environment, many chairs and couches to sit upon and generally good compay. I’ll have fresh bread (home-made) and probably cheese and a few other things. I provide water and a random assortment of soda for drinking. There is also generally someone who can help with knitting and crocheting projects.

If you hang around for dinner, we’ll probably order in.
