As the title says, I plan on jumping into Linux with two feet and minimal protection gear.  I hope to have a functioning and self-supportable Linux server installed and running here by November. And I am starting (pretty much) cold. I know quite a few of you out there have a lot of linux experience. I didn’t know if you all might have some suggestions of good places to start, good resources, or any other kinds of useful tidbits.

I have a deep envy for those people who grow up KNOWING what it is that they want to do, or want to be.  Something that drives them to achieve to make a certain goal life or career goal, that in and of its self will be satisfying.
