and yeah, I know I am doing a weekend wrap up on Tuesday . . . but seeing as my weekend went from Thursday night to Monday night, it seems valid.

Concert was awesome!! I am not a good media reviewer, I tend to want to just jump up and down and squee. And this concert was definitely squee-worthy. Soon (and assuming permissions) we’ll be able to make some of the video we took available, probably on you tube. I just have to figure out this new fangled video thingie – good thing I work where i do .

Sooj and K were lovely houseguests. Yesterday was very restful for Evan and I as we laid around and recovered from the weekend.

Post-concert the house is cleaner than it has been for a LONG LONG time. Which we will desperately try to goad ourselves into maintaining. We have reconfigured the house somewhat, what was the “office” aka “huge pile of crap”, is now an nice open space with a couch and lots of windows. What other furniture that is in that room (a china cabinet and some desk bits) will mostly move out over the next few months. With one less couch in the living room, and more spread out seating, the whole front of the house feels much more roomy. It made fitting in the 35 people or so we had for the concert fairly easy, and I think it will allow us to host a few kinds of events that in the past were kind of a problem – like game days.

Posted to locked out of chicago filter –

Sorry, rant to follow, ignore if you choose

living with me does NOT give you the right to use my stuff and my private space whenever you want – ESPECIALLY when you don’t even seem to acknowledge that we might have a right to want to use stuff of ours that you have co-opted.

I am SO glad that you are quite willing to let us have our guest bed back when you move out (after you’ve worn out the mattress). No I am sorry I don’t have the money to setup a gaming den for you upstairs in our guest space – I have to BUY A GUEST BED.

No I am sorry you can’t play DDR on our game system while we are cleaning the living room for an event you told us about yesterday. And no I can’t clean out the guest space for you RIGHT NOW so you can play DDR on our system, because we are cleaning the living room FOR YOU!

(its not like I have had a chance to play DDR almost since I bought it – you didn’t like me stomping around on the floor over your head)

No you aren’t allowed to just rearrange our space to suit your needs, just cause you need to play DDR right now. And well no, just because you want to play every day and decided this less than a week ago, does not mean that i have to cancel all my plans and redesign my house spaces to enable it.

And yeah we are messy, and yeah that sucks, but maybe if you cleaned up your own damn space then you’d have enough room to play DDR in your own room.

And of course you are more than happy to share all of your Tech with us right? I mean its not like you haven’t hidden your playstation in the basement since you got it and never shared it with the rest of the house. I suppose you could just buy the game and pad for yourself, and then you could bring YOUR game system upstairs to the living room and share it with the household.

But I am supposed to feel extra generous right? Cause you are extra generous every morning when you watch me – rain, snow or blistering heat – walk to the bus stop and wait while you drive past me. Its not like we aren’t both going to the same place anyway . . . And of course you are being extra generous when you pretend that you don’t actually live in a house and participate in the upkeep, even though you use all the facilities. Why yes, we do mind you not offering to help shoveling the drive way you park in, or taking out the trash you generate, or emptying the dishwasher of the dishes you eat off of.

Who the fuck was it who took you in when you had no place to go, and deals with your bitch-ass moods, weird freak outs, and selfish pain in the assery?

right – the people cleaning house so you can have your friends over to play games – but we suck cause you can’t play DDR RIGHT NOW. How about you shut your mouth and keep you bitchy little comments to yourself.

(I have to admit right now I am tempted to sell the old game system with the DDR and buy a new guest bed – but at this point it probably isn’t worth that much)

Friday night Kim came by pretty late and got the rest of her stuff from the Kitchen, she left huge mess for us to clean up—which seemed strange compared to how determined she was to clean her room before she left. But in any case – all of her stuff is gone and woot!!

Also new Doctor Who friday night—The Christmas Invasion and The New Earth. Both of which I enjoyed – I am not used to the new Doctor yet – but I am not bothered by him either. And I am amused that he was wearing chucks with his sort of old fashioned suit.

Saturday morning was supposed to be dedicated to cleaning the house in prep. for Sunday’s craft day. It ended up being “operation re-claim the bathroom” instead.

We had pretty much given over the upstairs bath to Kim for personal cleaning type stuff, and were sharing the very tiny downstairs bath with <lj user="bammba_m">. Saturday morning we went out to target to get a new corner organizer for the upstairs and shower, and ended up walking out with matching cabinets, one that goes over the toilet and one that will mount to the wall (that one might not end up fitting). We completely emptied everything out of the bathroom, cleaned the whole thing and put in one of the new fixtures and new shower curtain and had just enough time to use the shower and get ready for </lj><lj user="fiddlergrl">‘s wedding reception.

The wedding reception was a lot of fun, with excellent music and we got to spend some time hanging out with Kat Eggleston, </lj><lj user="le_trombone">. and Evan’s dad and dawn. We then went home, contemplated cleaning and then just crashed out.

Sunday ended up being a cleaning bonanza (it sort of had to be). We got almost everything we wanted to clean before folks started showing up, and in there I even made a birthday cake for </lj><lj user="curiousalexa">. By about 1:45 we all were sitting down to craft (two knitters and a crocheter). I had a good time hanging out with folks and knitting.

Bamm and I finished the night by inching our way closer to the end of season 6 of Buffy, we watched Entropy, Seeing Red and Villains. I predict we’ll watch the rest with not too much of a break

Just as we were finishing up Buffy, one of my old colleagues from Ayla’s called and said that their webpage was broken (again) and would I fix it . . . but that would take me until this week (the wee hours of monday) so I think I’ll skip that lovely tale.</lj>

okay, yeah I am feeling a bit smart today . . . I don’t know about any of you, but I like to have a put together “kit” for when I am knitting on the road. I have a zip shut bag for all those little notions and things that one generally needs for knitting. But its too big to pack into my perfect little travel sock knitting thingie (thanks Trope!). I don’t need a lot to knit socks, but I do like to keep all the little DP needles for sock knitting together, and I have been puzzling about a good way to keep them together, but compact and not flying all over the place, and v. important—sorted.

Most of the DPs I have, the numbers on them have worn off pretty quickly and I don’t relish measuring all those needles every time I want one more needle the same size as what I am using. I have been contemplating different methods, knitting a little felted slip-case was at the top of the list. But I was cleaning up in the craft-room when I got (imho) a great idea. To the right you can see a picture of my great idea. They are seed bead tubes. Each one seems to hold 3 sets or so of a single size of DPs (3 of 2s probably more of the smaller sizes.) Right now they 2s tube has 1 set of Britany Birch, 1 set of Chia-goo and 1 set of Crystal Palace. They are just long enough to hold the Crystal Palace ones and close securely. They are compact, labeled, easy to store and travel; pretty much everything I could want. I am pretty pleased with myself.
