So there is this new con … some of you may have heard of it. It is called MuseCon, billed a “A new convention in northeastern Illinois celebrating music and the hands-on arts”. I think these folks have a really cool idea for a con and this year is its inaugural year – its beta test so to speak. They have a bunch of cool things scheduled, there is a robust Filk schedule and their programming page lists,Knitting, Crochet/Amigurumi, Beginning soldering, Blinkies, Polymer Clay, Photoshop, Papercraft, and Photography. (and I am pretty sure that isn’t the full list of programs happening)

In any case i think it sounds like it is going to be a really interesting con and reg and hotel blocks will close soon, so I thought I would give it a bit of boost and let folks who hadn’t heard about it in on the coolness.

If you are unfamiliar with the music of Jennifer Armstrong, we forgive you … even though there can be no excuse. Next time, however, severe penalties will be handed down.

A resident of Maine, Jennifer is a musician, storyteller, and teacher whose dozens of concert and workshop titles have helped spread a love and appreciation of traditional music across all age groups. She relates stories from her Celtic-American heritage and plays the Scottish bagpipe, fiddle, banjo, and guitar.

More than just a performer, Jennifer shares her music with her listeners … a trait handed down to her by loving, musical parents Gerry and George Armstrong, with whom she performed since childhood with sister Rebecca.

Jennifer’s music and the passion with which she performs it are as engaging as a baby’s smile. It turns your head and holds you spellbound. And that is exactly the way you will remember them.

There will be NO COVER CHARGE for this wonderful event, but we will “pass the hat” for Jennifer that evening.

**PLEASE NOTE**Seating in the Snug is very limited. Come early to reserve your seats, have a meal in our dining room, and then retire with your drinks to the coziness of the Snug for storytelling!!
Reservations strongly recommended.

For those of you who don’t remember or who weren’t there Jenny was one of my very first house concerts . . . She used to be a local and now this is a rare chance to see her without traveling to the east coast.

Sitting here listening to a copy of Sooj’s concert CD on my living room stereo, the speakers are right behind where she was performing Sunday afternoon. Does not suck.
