Here is some stuff I read that I thought was interesting:
- July 21st – Is It Cold in Here? | Cocktail Party Physics, Scientific American Blog Network – The Chilling Effect – how subtle and not so subtle cues can affect minority participation
- July 20th – Ireland stands up to the Catholic Church – The Catholic church never fails to amaze and horrify me. Good for Ireland for telling them to go sit and spin.
- July 20th – Lab yeast make evolutionary leap to multicellularity – life – 23 June 2011 – New Scientist – This is so very very cool. Yeah nothing really to that whole Evolution thing … SIGH.
- July 20th – Black Vagina Wears Afro, Mexican Vagina Says ‘Ay-Yi-Yi’ in Douche Ad – NSFW – Adventures in Handpuppetry.
- July 19th – pandagon.net – I think this is a very interesting take on HP. And puts on paper some of the thoughts I’ve had sort of un-analysed running around in my head.
- July 14th – An Oral History of Friday Night Lights – Grantland – BEST SHOW EVER! Really, and this just makes me want to go back and watch from the beginning.

- July 14th – Peter Pronovost’s checklists better intensive care : The New Yorker – This isn’t a new story, but it is a really interesting one about how our Health industry fuctions.
- July 13th – Esoterica – A Modern tale of (sexual) assault – well kind of.
- July 13th – Google’s impressive healthy food program – this is a fascinating way to run a food program.
- July 12th – Dogs and Smurfs; Why women writers and stories about women are taken less seriously, by Max Barry – “It’s because of dogs and Smurfs. I can’t understand why no-one else realizes this. I see these knotted-brow articles and the writers seem truly perplexed. Dogs and Smurfs: that’s the answer.”
- July 12th – a new FREE eCookbook![the best of stonesoup] – This is a really nice little cook book – approx 70 recipes with nice pictures – and its FREE to download – lots of veggie recipes.
