So even though we are floating through the worst summer storm in a summer with a LOT of rain, Evan and I had to go to grocery store. And there behind the fish counter was salmon.  You may or may not know my *slight* salmon obsession.  Until recently I was afraid to cook it myself, because I am picky as hell and didn’t want to ruin it.  But then for mother’s day I learned how to poach it. Today I tried poaching on a small scale for the first time. YUM! and almost instant dinner. So here was my impromptu [...]

So my friend Mary wrote on a similar subject a few months ago – and today I saw this post at the Post Game Show – All the Pixel Ladies: “Lack of representation is a problem that a lot straight white men perhaps don’t understand. I know where I’ll be this Thursday Night – maybe you’ll join me? I’ll be seeing S.J. Tucker (also known as Sooj) in concert!  You say – who is this person? What is her music like? Well you can listen to many of her albums streaming at her BandCamp site; and you can learn more about her at one of her websites.  “SkinnyWhiteChick” and “S.J. Tucker“. I heard her live at Wiscon a few weeks ago and even though she was sick her performances were excellent.  I can’t wait to see what she’ll be like at full health. I am [...]

Personal Renovations weekend

So our plans for this weekend, that we were really looking forward to, got torpedoed by real life. There ended up being hospital visits instead of graduation parties – and yes everyone is both home and recuperating now, but I have to admit I am a bit sick of the story so I’ll write it up later. In and around the excitement I managed to squeeze in some other excitement. Friday night I got my ears pierced and by Sunday night I had achieved a completely un-natural hair color. I got my ears pierced a bazillion (okay a bazillion minus [...]
