Personal Renovations weekend
So our plans for this weekend, that we were really looking forward to, got torpedoed by real life. There ended up being hospital visits instead of graduation parties – and yes everyone is both home and recuperating now, but I have to admit I am a bit sick of the story so I’ll write it up later.
In and around the excitement I managed to squeeze in some other excitement.
Friday night I got my ears pierced and by Sunday night I had achieved a completely un-natural hair color.
I got my ears pierced a bazillion (okay a bazillion minus 10) years ago, but in the last year or so it had become a fight to keep them from closing up, so I decided to just let nature take its course, and then get them re-pierced. With a little trepidation I went to a piercing parlor instead of some place like Claire’s. My friends who are much more heavily into the tribal piercing thing said it was a much better way to get pierced. But i think being scarred by watching Grease too often as a child made me a little worried about getting pierced with a needle. But funny enough the experts were right, and the needle thing was WAY better than the claire’s gun thing.
I have been wanting to put my streak back in for a LONG time now, but circumstances conspired to make this a good weekend to get it done. Weirdly enough the hospital is in a neighborhood that gave me easy access to the hair dyeing supplies. See pics behind the cut:
1st I have to lighten the hair so that the dye shows up.
Then you put the color over the bleached hair. Unfortunately the dye wasn’t put on my gray hair. Note to self – try covering gray next time.

Hey hey! I have a purple streak too!
I cheated… did mine w/o the bleach part, which means yours is likely to last longer.
What fun!
I love that I’m sharing streaks with you!
Well I have to admit that I was aiming for more pink/magenta/fuchsia than purple. And the bleach doesn’t so much make it last longer, as make it WAY brighter.
