The first succesful sock toes I have knit in over 3 months!! These are for my Sockapalooza pal – and have to be done superquick – so the foot is going to be knit plain and I’ll let the colors do all the work. Heels will be pink. Depending on how fast I get the feet done, I may have time to slow down and do some sort of pattern for the leg – I’ll see when I get there.
Its a little hard to tell in the picture but the toes are pretty pink with a little green, and the body of the sock is a green and brown blend. Both colors are koigu.
More technical knitting comments below the cut.
I am a little stressed about size – my pal’s feet are a bit bigger than mine, and while I like my socks v. close fitting, she likes her’s loose. So for me these socks would be approx. 64 stitches (at about 10sts to the inch), hers are on 86 (for a 9.5″ foot). I hope they don’t end up too loose. OTOH the stitch amount is showing me something that I’ve never seen in koigu before – pooling. I am glad that the yarn is a subtle variation so that it isn’t super pronounced, but I don’t think it harms the look of the sock at all.

Is it wrong of me to look at that picture and think you were knitting a bra?
not anymore than the guy who asked me if I was knitting a G-string
but they would be some V. odd boobs . . .
I just assumed that the pic was upside down
Snerk. Sadly, I had the same reaction. I was just flipping through The Happy Hooker and looking at the obligatory bikini pattern (that nobody should make b/c I yarn bikini is a bad idea).
What is pooling?
pooling is what happens when you are using a variegated yarn and the same colors keep lining up instead of being spaced randomly around the knitting. Depending on the shape people call it “pooling” or “flashing”
here are some pics of it happening in knitting:

and you can kind of see it happening in image in this post – the brown stripe that is moving sideways spiraling across the socks
I still contend – odd . . . I don’t know about the women you have seen . . .but I’ve never seen tits shaped that way – up or down.
Do you visit other planets often?
